As a member of the ODE Executive Team, and leader of the Department of Education Equity team, the Assistant Superintendent of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will lead the development and implementation of proactive equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives within the agency and across the 197 Oregon school districts. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the development of a vision and effective strategies grounded in the values of a diverse and inclusive educational environment and to advise and provide resource information to the Deputy Superintendent, Chief of Staff and fellow Executive Team members on matters of equity and inclusion. This position is expected to be a social change agent working within the parameters of Oregon state legislation, and state policies and practices. Extensive knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion concepts and practice will be expected. Outcomes of the work include policy and practice revisions within the agency as well as externally to the school districts using current trends and innovative strategies in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion. This position will lead efforts to drive a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion that unleashes the potential of all team members across the organization.
